Ashley

I’m a Taiwanese-Chinese American, born and raised in NYC. I attended Dalton from grade 2 to 12, where I was known by my alternate identity – Shlieka. I attended and graduated from Mount Holyoke with these lovely women.During my time at Mount Holyoke, I studied Economics and Math before switching to and completing a degree in English and Psychology. I also received a 5 College certificate in Asian American studies. I’m married to Aileen, a half-unicorn Hello Kitty lover, and we have 13 quarter unicorn children together.

I’m an avid foodie. I love to cook and develop new recipes for my blog – shlieka.blogspot.com. I enjoy watching Law and Order marathons, as well as the Cooking Channel. Although I love to bake, I actually enjoy eating savory (spicy!) foods more. I enjoy living in NYC because of the close access I have to many things. I love the many museums I can explore. However, I do plan on visiting California for a few years. I have to eat my way through California before I come back! ;) I’ve been searching for the perfect cake for 8 years, but I still haven’t found it. Probably because I dislike most frostings, and hate buttercream.

We each have our own distinct styles, so taking a page out of Kunks + Aileen’s books, my style is mostly classic. I wear a lot of dresses, shirt dresses, skirts, sweaters, cardigans and leggings (I don’t really like to wear pants). I have a lot of vintage clothing from my mom ^_^ which I love. Most of the colors in my closet are neutral, I like creams, blushes, grays, black etc .. but there is the occasional pop of color. I like to mix my classic pieces with a modern twist from time to time, usually through my shoes. I love shoes, I’m unhealthily obsessed with them. I own a lot of beauty products, even though I don’t use many of them because I’m honestly just too lazy to wear make up. My idea of getting ready is showering, brushing my teeth, and putting my clothes on. Therefore my beauty essentials are: Face wash, acne cream, and clyndamicin 1% topic lotion. All I need is good skincare to go.

I’m a pretty straightforward type of person. My dream – reality made by a friend was: Dream – Honest, Reality – Brutally Frank. Since then, I’ve learned to curb my words. I am converting to Judaism, but regardless of my religious beliefs, I live by my own moral code. I do good things, not because God (or anyone else) tells me to, but because at the end of the day I have to live with myself and what I have done.
