Charles Anastase, Litas, and Litas for Less

Yes, I’m doing it. The Lita post. There are thousands of Lita posts floating all over the web ever since 2010, when the Lita first came out. Everyone either has, or wants a pair of Litas (when I say everyone, I use this term very loosely). The smartest thing Jeffrey Campbell has ever done was to be inspired by Charles Anastase’s Dungeon Boot.

Back in 2009, ladies were already going crazy over Charles Anastase’s Dungeon Boot (of which the exact retail price is unknown, only that it was available for pre-order and special order). Imagine the excitement when Jeffrey Campbell came out with the Lita in 2010 for $160. And now, 2 years later, they’ve milked the Lita craze for all it’s worth, producing the Lita in various different colors and prints.

I was successfully staying away from the Lita fad, trying not to buy another pair of shoes. And I was so good too, reading my food blogs and researching new recipes, until I strayed and came upon these.

only size 10 left T_T @ Solestruck

Every time I stray into looking at shoes, I always come upon a pair I absolutely must have. Most times, that pair is already sold out (the Brian Atwood Martina Strass) or it’s sold out in my size. Which is exactly what happened. Not that this means good news for my bank account, or my already overstuff closet. There are plenty of other prints and textures that the Lita comes in that I can move onto. However, in my frantic search to hunt down a pair of Lita Exotics in Black Snake (and then the distressed Brown Leather, and the Mustard), I came across some Litas-for-Less. And this is really why I’m even writing this post. Because then I went and looked at 2 pages worth of Google search on Litas-for-less, and found that people were posting about Litas-for-less that didn’t look like Litas.

So I decided to share the knowledge, and write a looks for less post. Many girls can’t afford to drop $160 or more on a shoe they absolutely love, and there’s no reason why they can’t have the same look for a price they can afford. Chances are that plenty of girls are still searching for a Lita-for-Less, one that doesn’t necessarily involve buying a knock-off from China and getting it in the mail 1-2 months later.

Starting with Go Jane, since that’s the one some people may already know about. They have plenty of fun colors, but I’m going to start with the classics since those are the most popular, and sought for.

Lace up suede platform. $38.55 on sale, comes in 6 other colors

Woven leatherette platform bootie, $42.50, available in tan (as pictured), black, and dark brown

Lace-up leatherette, $41.50, available also in camel

Go Jane offers a pretty good replica of some of the classics for over less than half the price. The original has a more defined arch, grommets (those metal rings you slip the laces through), and a thicker, lighter-coloured cuban heel.

Next is the N.Y.L.A Azlea @ Revolve Clothing on sale now for $65

Available in sizes 8 - 9.5

This is a pretty fair look for less, especially when most people are looking for a Lita-for-Less in a classic color like brown or black. The N.Y.L.A Azlea only comes in the color as pictured above. It’s not 100% like the Lita, as you can see, the Azlea has a lower platform than the Lita.

But we can do better than that price-wise. Urban Nog carries a few Litas-for-Less (actually they have a lot of other designer-for-less styles as well) all for $39.50 (shipping not included). For those of you who might have seen these on Lulu’s, these are the same shoes for a lower price.

The Promise Jocie, a two tone Lita for Less, also available in mustard two tone

The Promise Beacon, the glitter Lita-for-Less, only available in silver as pictured

The Victoria, blue suede Lita-for-Less

These are a pretty good deal, especially for the price. You can see some differences such as the stacked heel in the Promise Beacon and Josie, and the hook closures for the laces up top.The Victoria lacks the usual metal grommets where the laces are pulled through. The closest Lita-for-Less is probably the Francheska in black leather. But you can see that the platform on these is still not quite as high as the original version. Compare it to the original, the Lita in Black Calf Leather (sold out at Solestruck) which is probably the most popular version.

The Francheska, comes also in beige suede

But wait! We’re not done yet. Necessary Clothing also carries Litas-for-Less, which they call Neccesary Litas (actually a good name, since Litas are indeed necessary now). They have 15 versions of the Necessary Lita, including 2 glitter colors (black and silver), priced at $44.99. If you’re looking for a bright colored, or fun looking Lita-for-Less, then definitely check out Necessary Litas.

The Necessary Lita in classic black

The Necessary Lita in Leopard

And just for fun …

The Necessary Lita, in the U.S. Flag

The most noticeable differences between the Necessary Lita and the actual Lita is the darker heel on the Necessary Lita and the lack of grommets on the Necessary Litas (just like Go Jane). The Necessary Lita in Leopard appears to be made out of faux suede, while the real thing comes in pony. Even so, you can see that the platform and arch of the Necessary Lita is pretty close to the original.

Well that concludes my Litas-for-Less post! I’ve included lots of options, and lots of pictures (because I know how important shoe porn is!). Each site had some classics, and also something fun and different to offer. Take your pick because there are so many options (although not as many as the actual Lita). ^_^ Hope this was helpful, and I hope this post comes up in many a search for the Lita-for-Less!

* Two posts in one day! Actually I had this written before the Hello Kitty post, and I just couldn’t wait to put it up since I’d already written it. ^_^

Hello Kitty themed Valentine’s Day

As I promised, I would write a Hello Kitty themed Valentine’s Day post. Really, this post is for my beloved hubby, Aileen. She’s the real Hello Kitty lover. This idea for a Hello Kitty post came into being while I was scouring through Etsy, and came upon Hello Kitty goods for Valentine’s Day, which lead to me scouring through a Hello Kitty search on Etsy.

Unfortunately there is no Hello Kitty restaurant, no Hello Kitty bar/lounge/club in the U.S. The first Hello Kitty house is currently being built in the Hamptons, which is a great improvement for the Hello Kitty-less status of the U.S. . So if you have the money to, and you want to spend it, you can put the two of you on a plane and head over to Taiwan for a Hello Kitty Valentine’s weekend. Why Taiwan? Not only because Taiwan has plenty of Hello Kitty houses (I swear I pass by one every time I take a taxi) or Hello Kitty restaurants, etc … but also because Taiwan has Hello Kitty airplanes.

the Apple Jet

Eva Air has 3 Hello Kitty airplanes: ‘ ”Magic Jet” spreads the message of love and friendship and flies to Sapporo and Guam, “Apple Jet” celebrates Kitty’s love of the fruit and flies to Seoul and Fukuoka, and “Global Jet” brings the world together and serves Hong Kong and Tokyo.’ – courtesy of crunchyroll.com

Inside the Apple Jet

Not only does Hello Kitty decorate the outside of these planes, but she also decorates your headrest, your pillows, even the seats in the airport terminal as you wait to board the plane.

A peek into the Hello Kitty terminal

Hello Kitty world inside an airport terminal

They really thought through everything, you even board with Hello Kitty

You even get to eat Hello Kitty …

Why get an adult meal when the kid's meal is much cuter?

After exploring through Hello Kitty establishments in Taipei, take her/him on the Global Jet to Tokyo, because Tokyo is where Hello Kitty Heaven exists. She/he can go crazy over all the exclusive to Japan items, and you can pick up plenty of Hello Kitty wine, and even a Hello Kitty bouquet.

Hello Kitty peeping out from a bed of flowers

Now this is only if you belong to the 1%. If you belong to the 99%, like the rest of us, there are plenty of ways for you to make Valentine’s Day all about Hello Kitty still. If you want the Hello Kitty bouquet, try taking the picture above to a local florist and ask if they can recreate it. Here’s a tutorial on creating Hello Kitty bouquets: http://www.badkitteh.com/2011-08-hello-kitty-bouquet/ that you could provide the florist with, or attempt to make yourself. If you don’t have the time to go to a florist, or make the bouquet, Bad Kitteh has also kindly provided a link where you can order it direct. But hurry because Valentine’s Day is right around the corner!

If she/he loves Hello Kitty balloons, there are plenty of Hello Kitty balloons on the web, as well as at Party City for you to make a balloon bouquet.

Hello Kitty Valentine's Day Balloon, she stands up on her own

Like I said, Etsy has plenty to offer in Hello Kitty goods, Hello Kitty cupcakes, cookies, cards, chocolate (which you could also make yourself if you’re DIY inclined) and jewelry.

Hello Kitty cookies! The piping work is so good ... *envy T_T

Xoxo, Hello Kitty

Hello Kitty says Happy Valentine's Day!

If you want to give her jewelry, besides the options on Etsy, ebay, and Amazon, Tarina Tarantino has a line of jewelry called Pink Head, devoted to Hello Kitty. The bracelet below is portrayed in lavender, but comes in 4 other colors.

At the end of the night, curl up together in front of the fireplace (or tv) with a Hello Kitty snuggie/fleece blanket, or in Hello Kitty jumpsuits, and a bottle of Hello Kitty wine.

Jumpsuit in Hello Kitty pink via Karmaloop. They've plenty of other colors/prints all on sale

Yes, that’s right, you don’t have to fly all the way to Japan to get a bottle of Hello Kitty wine. You can order them on the web, or if you live in NYC, the following stores carry Hello Kitty wine:

Astor Wines & Spirits (212-674-7500)
Bowery & Vine Wine & Spirits (212-941-7943)
Columbus Avenue Wines & Spirits (212-865-7070)
Sea Grape Wine Shop (212-463-7688)
Vintage Grape Fine Wine & Spirits (212-535-6800)

Hello Kitty wines, or what's available in the U.S. anyways

Happy Hello Kitty-themed Valentine’s Day hubby! <3 u

Nail Tips for the New Year!

Yes, I know I’m doing that thing where I’m MIA for a long time again.  But to make it up to everyone, here is a post I wrote a while back on some tips I follow for nailcare.  Happy new year!

—-

Nail Polish Tips by Aileen

These are tips that I have gathered throughout the years from being a huge nail buff (haha, get it??).  These are all rules and actions that I myself strictly follow for healthy, beautiful, just-out-of-the-salon-looking hands.  Today, I’m going to share what I’ve learned.  Give ‘em a try!

  1. REMOVING NAIL POLISH — Instead of rubbing polish off with cotton balls, use a cotton pad.  Cut up the cotton pad into little squares and saturate with nail polish.  Place over each nail and press down.  Wait a minute. The pad should eventually stick to your nail, and you can do other things while you wait (check email, text on phone, etc).  After a minute, press down hard to remove polish in one glide. Your nail should be completely clear!  Saves time, energy, and leaves the nail infinitely cleaner!
  2. SEAL THE MANICURE – At the end of your manicure, swipe your top coat across the edge of the nail to “seal in” the nail polish.  This prevents your nail from chipping at the edges.
  3. ALWAYS USE – ALWAYS use a base coat and (when applicable) top coat.  The base coat protects your nail and prevents stains on your natural nail (especially from darker polish).  The top coat seals your polish and provides a protective layer to keep your manicure looking better for longer (unless you are wearing matte nail polish, then obviously don’t use a glossy topcoat!)
  4. DRYING NAILS – When doing your own nails (or going to a salon), ALWAYS make sure you have ample time.  It takes at least ten minutes for most nail polish to dry FULLY.  Even though your polish may feel dry to the touch, you can tell if it is truly dry by lightly tapping one nail against the other.  ONLY try this test when you are fairly certain they are dry (so they don’t stick together completely and ruin your manicure).  If they are truly dry, your nails should tap against each other smoothly and feel hard.  If not, they will stick slightly and feel wet.
  5. DON’T CUT YOUR CUTICLES – For the most professional looking home manicure, pay special attention to moisturizing your hands afterwards and fixing your cuticles before applying nail polish!  I can NOT stress this one enough.  Smooth hands with clean cuticles really make a huuuge difference.  Instead of cutting your cuticle (they will grow back thicker), PUSH your cuticle back and use cuticle oil.  If you do this enough, your cuticles will diminish on their own.  I have been doing this for years (never cutting cuticle, always pushing) and my cuticles are barely there now.
  6. FILE NAILS, NOT CLIP – If you have the time, always try to file your nails instead of cutting them (with a nail clipper).  Nail clippers place stress on your entire nail (when you clamp down to cut) and can break the nail and weakens it, especially the tip where the nail will be left jagged and thus will be more likely to peel and splinter.  Filing will ensure a cleaner line (no breakage) and will leave the tip of your nail healthy.
  7. CLEAN YOUR NAILS — Wash your hands with soap and water if you’ve just used nail polish remover.  Make sure there is no nail polish remover or moisturizer on your nails before applying your base coat and polish.  A clean, dry nail provides for a smoother, longer-lasting manicure.
  8. MIX TEXTURES — Remember, nail art is ART!  It’s not just color that matters, but texture is important too.  Try mixing matte colors with glossy colors, thick glitter polishes, thin glitter polishes, and shatter polish, etc for amazing textures!  A smooth nail is overrated!

Tokyo Girls Collection A/W 2011

You all know I love fashion. And with that, not only do I love American and European designers, but I also love love the powerhouse of fashion that comes out of Japan. Behold, the semi annual Tokyo Girls Collection!

It’s a runway show, but not the kind as we know here in the United States. It’s not just a raised runway with rows and rows of stiff-backed chairs. It’s not reserved for only the most exclusive celebrities and fashion editors. And it’s clothing is definitely not what we imagine as “runway” material–untouchably expensive and shockingly unwearable.

NOPENOPENOPE. TGC is called a “festival” because that’s for sure what it is. Like a concert and runway show combined, TGC has light effects, a huge extended stage/runway, model-audience interaction (waving and smiling?? cute!), entertainers (previous performers include koda kumi and mflo!), and of course, completely ready to wear, but still awesomely creative clothing!

The TGC Autumn/Winter show recently took place in September, with brands such as aquagirl ON THE STREET, BEAMS, CECIL McBEE (one of my favorites), Lovedrose&Co., MURUA, onespo, and VENCE EXCHANGE among numerous others.

I quite like the MURUA show:

Ultra-famous Japanese model/singer Lena Fujii opens with a drapey purple tunic and adorable bow-tie magenta shoes. Similarly-super-famous model/actress Kiko Mizuhara closes with black and blue ensemble plus flowy printed tail. Not sure about this outfit, but i liked almost everything in-between. When it comes to Japanese fashion, I am trying to cultivate a taste for more mature designers such as MURUA instead of squealing over cutesy gyaru looks such as Liz Lisa.

(the darker MURUA ft A/W 2011…love the collars)

VS……

(LIZ LISA!! all from S/S 2011)

So Bohemian-Victorian-princess-countryside-cute!!!

Ah, I can’t help it. It’s so pretty, and the show is such a joy to watch. Everything is just so interesting. I EFFING LOVE TSUBASA MASUKAWA EVERYTHING SHE TOUCHES TURNS TO GOLD. LIKE SERIOUSLY.

Can I just trade places with her? Not only is Liz Lisa her clothing line, but the BESTEST line of lashes in the world (Dollywink) is also hers, not to mention BAMBI contact lenses and makeup brand Candydoll. Tsubasa embodies all that is adorable and fashionable in this world and I want to be her. Too bad Liz Lisa wasn’t in TGC A/W this year )=

(tsubasa…all that and she’s not even 30!)

But let’s just gawk over the collection last year:

UM AMAZING MUCH???? I know I am not really the frilly lacey floral type but the stereotypical, society-gendered little girl inside of me just wants to scream when I see all the flowers and ribbons and teddy bears. AHHHHHHHHHH. I want.

It just unfortunate there’s no easy way to obtain Japanese designers in the US. Gotta get it from a middleman/third party like http://global.rakuten.com/en/ or pop up stores. In my impatience, I ordered a big bear fur coat from WC as well as a long two-tone wig from Prisila. Will update with pictures once I receive! It may be a while though since I’m going through third party. We’ll seeeee.

Meanwhile, enjoy the transitioning weather! It’s a little cold (where did autumn go??) but I’m still so excited to layer and wear pretty fall/winter clothing again! n______n

i got my bachelors degree wooo written in…

i got my bachelors degree….wooo…

(written in may but i never posted…sorry!)

great, 16 years of nonstop school and here i am.  it’s so crazy, but i’m happy.  i think i’m ready for this…ready to be on my own and ready to NOT WRITE PAPERS.

no, but seriously, this past month has been crazy.  graduation on may 22…and before that there was the laurel parade, our school tradition.  i looked everywhere for a really unique white dress (we were all supposed to wear white) because EVERYONE will be wearing one of those knee-length white sleeveless dresses and…i never found one good enough.

then, one day i was walking through union square and on a complete whim found this AMAZING white trina turk jumpsuit.  fate! so good to me ;D  i was DEFINITELY the ONLY one in a jumpsuit hahaha.  everyone went crazy over the outfit, and strangers even came up to me to ask where i had gotten it from!

good buy =D now my parents have left for asia (including bali and hong kong) and my mom stole the jumpsuit T__T (“i want to wear this on the beach in bali!!”)  but whatever….im home alone now! (with my brother)

anyway, back to graduation.  the actual ceremony was horrendously boring, as graduations usually are.  i was 30 minutes late to the ceremony and ran into my spot just as soon as everyone was lining into the amphitheater.  oops.

after graduation and goodbyes i went to nyc for a couple days.  then home, and then i went back to nyc for my bday weekend!  more on that in a few days…i’m such a slacker with updating these days.  instead, i leave you with a song and a review!

REVIEW/RECAP:
Alexander McQueen
: Savage Beauty at The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Okay, so it’s not really a review…more like a recap on my visit. I went first on a Monday or something in the afternoon.  The line was over 45 minutes long and wrapped around the entire level of the museum!  I didn’t have the patience, so opted instead to visit the musical instrument exhibit and other painting galleries.  The next day I arrived a bit earlier, around 2pm, and the line was still long, but definitely not as long as it was the day before when we got there at 3/4pm.  We only waited for about 25 minutes, and it was well worth the wait!  I spent maybe an hour inside as there was just SO MUCH STUFF!  Mcqueen dresses, yes, but also lots of shoes, hats, accessories, and media exhibitions too! I loooved the Kate Moss hologram at the end–i watched it maybe 5 times until Silvena pulled us away!  It’s SO worth the visit and wait; I loved the whole thing (except for the weird Africa/Asian exhibitions that were a bit racist/orientalist in their depictions…).

I bought a tiny McQueen armadillo shoe from the gift shop at the end.  Overpriced, but so cute.  Everyone should go visit, especially since the exhibit is only running until July 31st.  No photos, but i sneaked a couple.

First–happy belated birthday to my musi…

First–happy belated birthday to my musical soulmate, biffle, twinsie, etc KUNKU YAY <3

I hope you enjoyed your surprise on Tuesday night, followed by your birthday dinner on Wednesday night (where 2834892394 people showed up) and then our weekend in Boston!  I LOVE YOU!!

—-

So lately I’ve been obsessing over my nails again.  You all know how much I love nail art (see my facebook album: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=27184&id=1554900004).  Silvena did my nails the other day from a design we saw on http://beebeaut.blogspot.com/.  It’s a funky leopard print:

It’s basically two coats of white polish (the one I’m holding), and then a few dots/splatters of colored polish over that (in any color you’d like, but the more pastel, the better so the black will stand out more on top).  Then, we took a thin paintbrush and painted on the black leopard print circles/spots.

I’ve been haunting http://www.vivalanails.co.uk/ for nail plate patterns, nail art canes, and rhinestones and stuff.  They do free shipping to the US for orders of over 50 quid…so I’m thinking about spending a good amount.  I should also check on ebay though…I’m thinking that’d probably be even cheaper and there may be more selections.  I feel like it’d just be complicated finding everything though…but we’ll see.  I’ll keep you guys updated!

Also, in other news—I’m growing my hair out.  Yeah, that patch I shaved off in London.  My favorite part about the shaved part was putting designs into it–I’ve done Chinese characters, my horoscope sign (cancer), a DNA double helix, my class year (2011), etc.  It’s been fun, but now I’m a little tired of it.  Plus, it seems like EVERYONE is getting it these days.

It’s funny, actually.  The top post our blog gets hits for is the “I SHAVED MY HEAD” (http://internationalsensasians.com/2010/05/05/i-shaved-my-head/) entry I wrote a while back.  I keep getting messages from girls who are interested in the cut, asking me things like how long it’ll take to grow back, what my friends think, and how well can it be covered up.  Well, now that I’m growing it back, I’m starting to realize just now painstakingly slow the process will be.  My right side is roughly a foot and a half shorter than my left side and that’s probably going to take at least two years to even out.  I guess I might as well start now then… (this is how it looks now as its growing out slowly…)

Also, someone recently friended me over facebook that I noticed had posted my picture onto their page.  THAT IS WEIRD AND CREEPY.  Please do not use my images online without my explicit permission.  You can print out a picture to show your stylist if you want, but DONT BE UPLOADING MY FACE ALL OVER YOUR BLOG AND/OR FACEBOOK.  -____-;;

and finallyyyy…..I GOT A NEW CAMERA!!  My early Christmas present <3

The new pink Sony Cybershot DSC-TX1! Thank you Sil-vaye-nahhhh <3 you are the best (=

—A photo from my new camera from Kunku’s birthday dinner at Freshside heeheeee arent i cute jkjk

Also, a big thank you to all our readers.  Our blog is growing exponentially in hits…thanks so much everyone for sticking with us, whether it just be an accidental search yield, a one time click, or if you’re our friend checking up on our lives.  LOOOVEEEE!! <3 <3

oh, and i leave you with this…

KUNKUCAKEMONSTERRARRRRGHHHH AHAHHAAHA

Birthday Week!

Nail update: My MINX gold toenail foils are still perfectly intact (my toenails grow really slowly) save for a few barely noticeable tears by the corners and edges (from wearing flats).  From a distance, however, they still look perfect.  People continuously stop me on the streets, in stores, and on the subway to ask about them.  As for my hands…I removed all my claws and I can once more type freely.  I now can also button my own buttons and open my own cans…best feeling ever (=

(sephora by OPI: What’s a Tire Jack?/Matte Black underneath a splatter of Lancome f/w collection: forgot the name, but its an AMAZING silver glitter—i am LOVING the illusion of depth and texture of the chunky glitter over the matte “sharpie black.” so grundge chic!)

Anyway, I’m currently writing this in the studio apartment Kunku and I share by Union Square…we unfortunately don’t have internet here yet so I’ll have to upload this eventually at work.  Our apartment is snug, but cute.  The location is the best part; we can walk to the meatpacking district and Union Square is right around the corner.  Soho and all its cute boutiques are a couple blocks away and Times Square is just a couple train stops uptown.

….I fell asleep writing that on our couch to the TV blaring Pirates of the Caribbean.

..ok MOVING ON…..

now……

last one, promise.  cause i know you guys are sick of me whining about how much i miss europe hahahah (x

random outfit of the day (ok i threw the tie in there for fun.  i dont think i actually wore it out though)

So the other day I was reading my old saved and unpublished blog posts (either they are unfinished, deemed “too whiny,” or I forgot to post them) and came across the first blog I wrote in London in January. Here is an excerpt:

“Anyway I yelled at UCL Residences in person but to no avail.  I took a tour of the campus and it started snowing.  I nearly slipped on the ice and broke my neck four times, and I didn’t eat or make any friends at all until three hours ago (that is, only the former).

And to be honest, my chances of making friends right now are bleak.  I don’t live in a UCL residence hall and I wasn’t here for the beginning of orientation, so I’m behind in meeting new people.  I feel so awkward and lonely here, a feeling I haven’t had since high school.  There are so many things to see and do here, but I have nobody to do it with.  It’s Friday night and I want to have dinner and cocktails at a dimly lit bar and restaurant after hitting up chic boutiques and famous streets.  Then I want to laugh over drinks at a bar until 11 or 12AM, when I want to shed my coat and dance the night away at a disco in my little black dress.

Instead, I ate the buns my grandma packed and read the newspaper alone in my hotel.  And now after buying an adapter, a cup of 75 pence tea from Mickey D’s (where I actually couldn’t figure out the pound system so the cashier had to look at all the coins in my hand and pick out 75 pence) and walking around for an hour (or was it two?) in the freezing cold in attempt to find wifi, I’m back in the UCL main entrance on my computer attempting to connect to the internet and failing terribly.

Okay—literally twenty tries later I give up.  London officially hates me.  Freaking internet WTF.

NOW I WILL WALK ALL THE WAY BACK TO MY HOTEL IN THE FREEZING COLD.  I CAME HERE FOR NOTHING SINCE I CAN’T GET ONLINE!! YOU SUCK BRITAIN!!! AUUGHHHHHH.

I’m going to go back and go to bed now.  Even though it’s only 11:30.  I’m supposed to be dancing in my little black dress right now!  Worst Friday ever.

I’m homesick, weekendfunsick, goodfoodsick, dancingsick, friendsick, and Mohosick.

I’m not one to complain like this usually, but I just hope this isn’t the “amazing study abroad experience” I’m here for.”

Reading this made me smile.  I received prime university housing eventually, made amazing friends from all over the world, and danced nearly every weekend away after cocktails in my little black dress—and this all wasn’t even the least of it.

I stood on a cliff and yodeled into the Alps.  I ate midnight gelato by the Coliseum with a stranger-turned-friend.  I bought macarons in a McDonald’s in Versailles.  I spread prosciutto slices over fresh baguettes while watching the sun set over Florence.  I drank a liter of Hofbrauhaus brew in Munich by myself.  I danced to Katy Perry at a lesbian club in Brighton.  I bought a gram of cannabis from a coffee shop called 420 in Amsterdam (for someone else ok la).  I yelled at a man on an Athenian beach for making “chinky eyes” at me.  I got fined by a Parisian subway officer over a misunderstanding and subsequent argument.  I learned how pigeons mate in St. James Park.  I bought a bag off Champs-Élysées.  I tried Spritz out of a plastic cup during happy hour in Venice.  I got lost within Vatican City by myself.  I found true love in the form of a waffle in Belgium.  And I sipped champagne on the top of London Eye.

I would never have imagined all this would happen when I was writing that miserable blog in January.  These five months have been unpredictable and utterly amazing.  I will never forget (=
